1. Introduction

COMmon Bayesian Optimization Library (COMBO)

Bayesian optimization [Moc74] has been proven as an effective tool in accelerating scientific discovery. A standard implementation (e.g., scikit-learn), however, can accommodate only small training data. COMBO [URH+16] is highly scalable due to an efficient protocol that employs Thompson sampling [CL11], random feature maps [RR08], one-rank Cholesky update [GGMS72] and automatic hyperparameter tuning [CER06].
